Attachment & Reunification Therapy
Attachment and reunification work is about more than being physically together again—it’s about restoring trust, creating safety, and nurturing lasting bonds. I support families through every step of this journey, whether relationships are with biological, foster, or adoptive parents. My role is to help families prepare for visits and transitions while ensuring that reunification unfolds with stability, security, and healthy attachment. With compassion and practical tools, I walk alongside families as they rebuild connection and move toward strong, resilient relationships.
So, how can I help?
When children and parents are separated—whether through foster care, kinship care, or other child welfare involvement—the bonds that hold a family together can feel strained, disrupted, or broken. My work focuses on helping families repair and strengthen those attachments, so reunification or adoption/custody transfer can be grounded in trust, safety, and resilience.
Supporting Visits & Transitions
Visitation is more than a scheduled time—it’s a chance to practice connection. I help families prepare for and reflect on visits, offering tools for communication, regulation, and connection. I also guide caretakers and children through the emotions that come with transitions, helping reduce stress and increase stability.
Collaborating for Lasting Reunification
Reunification works best when the whole system supports the child’s wellbeing. I collaborate with caseworkers, GALs, foster families, and community providers as appropriate to ensure that reunification is guided by both the child’s developmental needs and the family’s strengths.
(Re)Building Trust & Safety
I support caregivers and children in understanding how trauma and separation affect their relationships. Together, we work to create a sense of safety, so children can feel secure turning toward their caregivers.
Strengthening Bonds Through Connection
Using attachment-based and somatic practices, I encourage caregivers and children to discover new ways of relating. This might include playful interaction, co-regulation strategies, and guided conversations that foster empathy and trust.
